Syed Kamal is the Founder of TAGHEER; a Research and M&E firm and Managing Partner of C-Istanbul; Turkey based management consultancy firm. He has over 15 years of professional work experience, specializing in leadership, monitoring & evaluation (M&E) and operations management. Having worked in management-level positions at a number of prominent public, private, and development sector organizations, Kamal has developed expertise in the areas of business development, project management, Monitoring & Evaluation, research, workforce development, staff coaching, and return & reintegration.
Kamal began his career in the manufacturing industry, performing quality assurance and market assessment. He transitioned to work for Afghanistan’s rural development at the Ministry of RRD, UNDP, and DACAAR and after establishing a solid foundation, Kamal took on a critical M&E role with UK-DFID and supported the investment climate in Afghanistan. Following over two years with DFID, Kamal took his M&E expertise to Tetra Tech “USAID” as M&E manager and supported Land reform in Afghanistan.
Kamal returned to the private sector in 2012 to take a director-level position with the Afghanistan Holding Group “AHG” and later on promoted as a partner in the firm. Kamal switched AHG for Afghanistan Center for Excellence (ACE) and managed a wide range of projects that supported private sector for workforce development, management advisory, Policy, and strategy formulation, and reintegration support. Kamal led ACE as the Managing Director, Partner, and in the role of CEO from 2015 till January 2019.
Kamal holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Operations Management from the Indira Gandhi University of India, and a Master degree in English Literature from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan. He also keeps a postgraduate diploma in operations management from the Indira Gandhi University.
Kamal led and contributed to more than 20 Research & Evaluation projects for design, analysis, and reporting as a Team lead and Associate researcher. He also managed over 50 projects medium to large size for clients in the field of capacity development, management, and policy and reform.
